KYM PARNELL

Kym Parnell began her role as Executive Director/CEO for United Way of East Mississippi in January of 2022, being the first female to hold this position. With over 25 years of leadership experience in the corporate sector, 19 of those years have been dedicated to working and volunteering for several nonprofit organizations. She started her career as a banker in 1998 and has served in many roles throughout her 22-year profession. With finances being her strong suit, Kym launched her business, Kymmustry Financial, LLC in 2020 focusing on credit education, restoration and financial stability.

She was an active member of the Board of Directors of United Way, serving as Pace Setter Chair, Campaign Chair, as well as the Board President. Kym is a 2014 graduate of Leadership Lauderdale, and was named one of Meridian’s 2018 Top 20 Under 40.

Kym is a member of The Fire House Church where she was a part of The Firehouse Finance Ministry as Chief Financial Officer 5 of the 10 years she served on the finance committee. She has been married to Ken Parnell for over 16 years, and they have one beautiful daughter, Kynnadi Parnell. Parnell brings a long history of purpose-driven work to her role at United Way of East Mississippi, and is looking forward to the impact that this organization is going to make in all the areas that it serves.

STEPHANIE GRACE

Stephanie Grace serves as the Administrative & Volunteer Coordinator for United Way of East Mississippi, where she is dedicated to connecting people, nonprofit organizations, and community resources to create meaningful and lasting change. Through her work, she helps coordinate volunteer opportunities, foster community partnerships, and support initiatives that strengthen the quality of life across Lauderdale, Kemper, Clarke, and Neshoba counties.

Passionate about service and community engagement, Stephanie believes that collaboration is the key to building stronger, healthier communities. Her commitment to bringing people together and supporting local organizations reflects her mission to make a positive impact throughout East Mississippi—one partnership, one volunteer, and one opportunity at a time.

DR. GALE MCGOWAN, PhD

Dr. Gale McGowan, a Enterprise, MS native, serves as the Resource & Economic Development Officer for United Way of East Mississippi. Dr. McGowan is a dedicated environmental sustainability professional, educator, and community advocate with a passion for improving the environment and well-being of individuals and families. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated a steadfast commitment to providing sustainability resources, empowering others through education, and serving her community with excellence and integrity.

Known for her leadership, wisdom, and servant's heart, Dr. McGowan has impacted countless lives through her professional expertise and genuine concern for those she serves. She believes in treating the whole person—mind, body, and spirit—and is committed to helping others achieve healthier, more fulfilling lives.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Dr. McGowan values her faith, family, and community. She is dedicated to mentoring future generations, encouraging lifelong learning, and inspiring others to pursue their purpose with passion and determination.
